About St. George’s Vicar

Kate’s Page

Kate Wharton GS 15Hi, I’m Kate, and I’ve been vicar at St. George’s since March 2009. Before that I was curate at St. Luke’s Church on Princess Drive (West Derby/Dovecot area) and before that I was training in Oxford. Before I was ordained I worked as a speech and language therapist and as a church pastoral assistant. If you haven’t yet been to one of our services here at St George’s, you’d be more than welcome. We meet on Sundays at 9:00am and 11:00am and you can find more information about other services and events on this website. Please do get in touch if you’d like to – it’d be great to hear from you, and we hope to see you here soon.

As lots of you will know, we are involved with a Foodbank distribution centre operating out of Holy Trinity Breck Road. Please see this notice below from Andy who oversees it:

We don’t think anyone should have to go hungry in Anfield and Everton.

That why I’m sure you’re aware that Christ Church & Holy Trinity run a Foodbank every Monday morning in Holy Trinity. But did you know that every month we help to feed over 100 people, including children? And that we hand out over 500 tins of food, hundreds of cartons of juice and milk, and supply toiletries like toothpaste, deodorant and babies’ nappies?

Our Foodbank relies on the generosity of your donations and the time of our dedicated volunteers from local churches. Could you continue to help us support our neighbours through the valuable work of our Foodbank? Currently we need another 2-3 people to join our team of volunteers. We are also looking for people who are willing to make a small regular donation to the Foodbank (£1 or £2 a week) to help us pay for toiletries, milk and other bulky items that are difficult for people to donate directly.

If you can help, or know of someone else who might be able to, please do chat to Andy – give him a call on 0151 345 0295, or email him at andywil2on@gmail.com

With love, Kate
